i know i`m gonna catch some flak...i`m not crying sour grapes....wright`s win and the over along with the over in the bredahl/naka fight won me a few bucks tonight despite losing both ends of the mesi/jirov hedge....

but,i`m gonna say it anyway...i think, despite what the hbo talking heads said, that mosely looked very small in there tonight...and he looked weak and tired very early in the fight....

could it be that the balco scandal had some validity to it?...i wouldn`t bet against it.....

mosely, imo, looked much bigger in the dlh fight....mosely looked broader and he was much more heavily muscled...the weight was distributed differently....

maybe i`m way off....and feel free to skewer me...but,that wasn`t the same mosely that I SAW vs dela hoya...

wright`s style was a large factor...but wright isn`t a super physical jr middleweight...he threw mosely around like a rag doll...

i posted this previously...

"i don`t know what happened to mosely vs forrest....he looked little and he didn`t look strong at all...he looked like a different person vs de la hoya...a much bigger and stronger person...

but here`s something to think about....this whole steroid thing has been building over the last 6 to 9 months....wasn`t mosely named in some of these scandals involving balco labs?....

a little snippet from a column by the fantastic(imo) pedro fernandez....i think this was from october.......................

STEROID HEARINGS ARE UNDERWAY IN FRISCO

As I sit here filtering through reports from my many sources in San Francisco where as I write a Federal Grand Jury is probing B.A.L.C.O. Labs of Burlingame, CA and its owner Victor Conte. The way the story goes Conte, a one album bass player with the funk band Tower of Power invented a Steroid that could not be detected by the testing systems in use.

BALCO WENT AFTER THE WORLD’S TOP ATHLETES

My sources go on to say that representatives of Bay Area Labs Cooperative (BALCO) contacted Trainers, Managers, Fathers, and even some Agents of prominent athletes and made them aware of the fact that Conte’s "THG" could give them an undetectable advantage over the competition. WBC & World 154 lb. champion Shane Mosley’s name has surfaced in this scandal that has the world of athletics both amateur and professional reeling. MLB MVP & San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds is set to testify today.

BASEBALL’S BARRY BONDS CHANGES HIS TUNE

When Bonds came into baseball he had a body like comic Jerry Seinfeld. He was then some 40 lbs. lighter than what he is now. Hounded by the Media in recent years on the subject of Steroids, time and again Bonds claims that he has, "Never taken Steroids." Admitting only to working out and taking "Nutritional Supplements" when asked prior, Bond’s Agent was singing a different tune of late. "If Barry took Steroids, he didn’t know it."

MOSLEY WAS INCREDIBLY STRONG FOR HIS SIZE

Shane Mosley has put on a great deal of weight as well. A struggling welterweight fighting at lightweight (135 lbs), Mosley now has a physique best described as almost Hulk-ish at 154 lbs. Add to the equation that Shane could bench press 350 lbs. while weighing just 147, and that could be an indicator of his having some type of synthetic edge. For I know a lot of strong welterweights, BUT none of them can throw 350 lbs. around like Shane!

GOVERNMENT DEMANDED MOSLEY’S POST OSCAR URINE!

The Nevada State Athletic Commission could not come up with Mosley’s Drug screen when the U.S. Government came for it in October because the sample was destroyed shortly after the test results came back "Negative for any banned substances." We all know now that nobody knew what TGH (Tetrahydrogestrinone) was, thus it wasn’t something they were testing for. My sources in the Nevada State House tells me that the "G" seemed to be indicating that they felt Mosley was using the banned substance TGH at some point and time..............................................................

now, this was back,i think in october or something.....with all the heat on this steroid investigation,if mosley was partaking of this THG stuff,i`d bet a dollar to a donut that he`s since stopped....could that have affected the last dlh bout?..

could it mean we see a more normal mosely?....

it`s all speculation....but it`s something to seriously think about...

worth a small +250?...like i said,my gut says mosely, but, who knows.....maybe there`s something to all this synthetic steroid stuff...

just throwing some s-it against the wall ....to see if anything sticks" ....

after seeing mosely tonight,i`m beginning to believe what i was reading...

I def believe it myself, as even Barry Bonds was in attendance. Kind of funny. Just remember though, Mosley was a natural 135 pounder, as was DelaHoya, while Winky was a natural 154, and it looked very similar to Forrest-Mosley, as Mosley cant fight as well going backwards, and thats all he did tonight. I give him credit for being a true champion and fighting the best for once, but Im really pissed that i wont see Sugar kick Tito's ass now. That would have been hardcore boxing at its best.

It's nice that there is sportsmanship in boxing, but Mosely has way too much love for his opponents. Both against De La Hoya and tonight, there was constant glove tapping and other shows of courtesy. In a sport of brutality (I am not a boxer), I would think one would gain an edge by developing a little animosity for the opponent. Too much "sugar" for Shane.

i also don`t remember looking at mosely when he fought raul marquez, who is a bigger jr middle than winky, and thinking,"this is a size mismatch"......

funny that shane`s friend barry bonds was at ringside.....coincidence?....i`m sure it was...but it made me laugh...

In retrospect, there is much to be learned here. If we look back on the thread on this fight there was much discussion and many felt
Winky was very dangerous for Shane. Some thought
Mosley was a pretty sure thing and it was pointed out, even by JOdessa, how nothing is
ever locked up and anything can happen. My point
here is the posts from the crew were very astute
and they deserve to be respected and studied
if a chap is contemplating a wager. Essentially,
keeping an open mind may be in order.

The wright fight was a charme and very predictable . Winky was even better than i expected him and i have no doubt that he would have beat the Mosley from the ODH fight too.
It was a good fight to watch also.
Mesi vs Jirov was not a desaster for me, but it killed a lot of very big parlays.
I believe i cut a little down on hedging.
Mesi fights are sure entertaining so.
Now Campell has to deliver and this was a good weekend.

I just flew back from Vegas and have to admit that the plane ride back was tough with my ass being so sore.
I really should have listened to you guys and hedged my bet with the over. It was dumb of me not to. I just had a strong feeling that Mosely was going to take this. Spinch, I think youre right about the Balco thing. I think that stuff has messed Mosely up. He was dead after like the second round, he has no stamina now. But he would of lost anyway. I have never seen Winky Wright fight like that - so agressive. His defense was awesome. He seemed to know every punch Mosely was going to throw and blocked every single one. With Mosely it was just like the Oscar rematch, he didnt fuking jab. He just wants to look for the big shot all night and not set anything up which is so stupid. I am still shocked - I had a good feeling about this one. But alot of you guys saw it coming and Franks is absolutely right, we have a good board here and we really should heed each others advice.

There was also alot of Wright money that came in before the fight. Friday morning/early afternoon Mosely was -350 at Mandalay. That dropped to -300 Friday night and the last time I looked it was -280 on Sat and probably went even lower. Alot of people saw this coming. Too bad I wasnt one of them.

And Franks, that Santiago kid from Puerto Rico looks REALLY good. Do you agree? I think this kid is the real deal.
